Our team is both remote and locally based. The ability to work professionally in both settings with a flexible schedule while always being available to management, clients and staff is our expectation.

Tax Manager Position

Role Description

This is a full-time position for a Tax Manager located in Houston, TX. The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance, comprehensive tax planning, and resolving tax problems. Daily tasks include reviewing tax returns, interacting with the IRS to resolve client issues, tax research and meeting with clients to address their concerns. The role includes providing M&A support and participating in strategic business planning. The Tax Manager will supervise the tax team, ensuring high standards of service and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Tax preparation, tax planning, and tax problem resolution skills. We use Wolters Kluwer CCX Axcess for tax compliance, CCH Answer Connect for tax research
  • The ability to interact and provide guidance to our bookkeeping partners on accounting issues is regularly required as is a general understanding of Intuits’ various QBO platforms
  • Basic understanding of CPA firm practice management systems – we use Canopy
  • Experience in utilizing ChatGPT or similar AI platforms for tax research
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions and the tax implication of each
  • Understanding of business valuation methods and strategic business planning
  • Strong supervisory and leadership abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on-site in Houston, TX occasionally
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA certification preferred
  • Experience in public accounting or a similar role is a plus
